EAST TEXAS, Texas (KLTV) - Two East Texas groups gathered to carry their crosses across town Friday.

One group began at Treasure Church in White Oak while another began in Longview at On Mission Ministries’ Jesus Burger. Their goal was to meet in the middle off Highway 80 while bringing attention to the special day.

“Our goal is just to show the love of Jesus on this Good Friday, because there’s so much that took place on Good Friday. You know, Jesus went to the cross and he did it for the for the sinners and it’s just a way that we symbolize letting the people know that we love him, and we all take up our cross and follow him daily," Pastor Preston Dozier, the associate pastor at Treasure Church, said.

He said the venture has become a Good Friday tradition.

“It’s an encounter,” Dozier said. “People honk and wave and I think it’s a just a way that people just show they care about the cross.”
