Victor Yanez in custody, wanted in connection with shooting death of Joshua Rios

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - The Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit says 22-year-old Victor Yanez turned himself in at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Yanez was wanted for murder in connection with the shooting death of 38-year-old Joshua Rios.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired just after 2:00 a.m. in the 1800 block of Clovis Road on Monday.

When they arrived, officers found Rios with serious injuries. Rios was taken to UMC, where he was later pronounced dead.

Yanez is currently being held in the Lubbock County Detention Center.
