Smith County sees record-breaking turnout for day 1 of early voting

SMITH COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) - The first day of early voting saw a record-breaking turnout in Smith County.

According to the county, a total of 10,635 ballots were cast on Monday. 9,594 were in person, and 1,041 were mailed in. According to the release, the 2020 presidential election saw around 6,000 votes in the first day of early voting in Smith County.

According to the Smith County Elections Administrator, the lines began to form at The Hub Tuesday around 7:15 a.m. As of 8:15 a.m., 200 people had voted at the eight polling locations in the county.

• First Christian Church - Christian Life Center Room 5: 4202 S. Broadway Ave, Tyler

• Heritage Building: 1900 Bellwood Road, Tyler

• The Hub: 304 E. Ferguson Street, Tyler

• Kinzie Community Center: 912 Mt. Sylvan St., Lindale

• Noonday Community Center: 16662 CR 196, Tyler

• Starrville Church of the Living God, 18396 Highway 271, Winona

• Whitehouse Methodist Church: 405 W. Main Street, Whitehouse

• Green Acres Baptist Church – Flint Campus, at 1010 CR 137, Flint
