SHERMAN, Texas (KXII) - A Sherman was sentenced to 30 years in prison after being convicted of his fifth DWI.

The Grayson County District Attorney’s Office said that Larry Kitchens, 67, was sentenced after a plea agreement related to an incident from October of 2021.

Sherman Police were called to the parking lot of a local business after a caller said they were concerned about Kitchens being intoxicated while in a parked vehicle.

Kitchens reportedly told the caller that he was drunk and lost.

Police said that when an officer asked for his driver’s license, Kitchens handed the officer an empty bottle of vodka instead.

Kitchens was arrested after completing field sobriety tests, and a blood test showed that he had a blood alcohol level of .138.

The District Attorney’s Office said that Kitchens had previously served prison time for DWI, unlawfully possessing a firearm as a felon, and failing to register as a sex offender.
