Jacksonville man gets life for 2020 stabbing death

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) - A jury has convicted a Jacksonville man accused in the stabbing death of a man he was providing a ride to.
Brandon Matthew Branton, 25, has been found guilty and sentenced to life in prison for the 2020 murder of Randy Davenport.
Branton’s trial began Monday, April 15 and concluded Wednesday evening after 8 days of testimony and jury deliberation.
Branton was arrested and charged alongside Ja’Michael Rusk, also of Jacksonville, for allegedly stabbing Davenport after Davenport had gotten a ride from the two men.
Rusk’s case is still pending.
