DPS has arrested Alexis Davila, 18, of Athens, for failure to stop and render aid involving death, as well as tampering with physical evidence. This stems from a February 2026 deadly hit-and-run crash on FM 2709 which was investigated by Texas DPS.

Four people are safe after a boat capsized on the Sabine River just after midnight Friday near the State Highway 155 crossing, just before the town of Big Sandy.
First responders from several Smith County agencies were involved in the rescue. Crews were called out around 2:30 a.m. near where State Highway 155 crosses the river, authorities said.
