A payphone sitting in a grassy area off Montgomery Street in Gilmer has drawn numerous calls from curious residents, some of whom had never seen one before.

An East Texas man nearly lost $10,000 after receiving a scam call in which someone claimed his daughter had been kidnapped, according to Smith County Precinct 4 Constable Josh Joplin.
Around 9:35 p.m., Jacksonville PD reported multiple 911 calls about a shooting near Lincoln Park, near Davis Avenue and Holloway Avenue. Officers located three adult males who were wounded by gunshots. Detectives are working to identify those involved in both shooting incidents and are asking anyone with information to contact the Jacksonville Police Department at 903-586-2546.
