SFA’s Colby Carthel signs extension through 2031
NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) - SFA announced Monday that head coach Colby Carthel will remain in Nacogdoches through the 2031 season.
Carthel spoke about the extension at his weekly press conference on Monday.
“It’s awesome. First of all, you know, greatly appreciate, you know, President Weaver, Michael McBroom and their commitment not to me, but to our program. And, you see what’s going on. A lot of people were able to see it this weekend at homecoming, just the master plan. It’s not just about football or athletics. It’s about the whole thing. I mean, this university is ascending,” Carthel said. “That’s what’s excites me about the future is our best days are ahead. And so I really appreciate, you know, their commitment to me, my staff, my family and our program.”
Since his first season at SFA in 2019, Carthel is 52-29 overall leading the Lumberjacks. This year SFA is 8-0 for the first time in program history and currently on an 18-game regular season winning streak. Earlier this year, Carthel became the all-time winningest head coach at SFA.
Carthel was named the 20th head coach for SFA on Dec. 4, 2018.
