(KLTV) - The Seattle Seahawks will be sold after the season officially ends, according to directives from late owner Paul Allen.

Allen, who also owned the Portland Trail Blazers, died eight years ago. Both teams are now on the market as part of his estate planning, with proceeds from the sales going to charity.

If the Seahawks win the championship, they would become the first NFL team sold after winning a title.

The potential sale comes as quarterback Sam Darnold has found success in Seattle. Darnold has played for five teams in eight years, including last season with the Minnesota Vikings where he won 14 games.

Teammates have praised Darnold’s resilience throughout his career journey. Wide receiver Cooper Kupp credited Darnold for his perseverance through multiple team changes.

“Mike, Mike said it best. We do not care as Sam, Sam is the same way. He’s just gonna be Sam Darnold that he has been his entire life. I talk about a lot adversity all the things he’s gone through. He’s learned just like man you need to grow take the positives. And move towards those and not be stuck in the negatives. Things like that, the onset he does not care his responsibility. He feels as strongly call the guys on this building, and guys in this building he gets to lead and what he brings to the quarterback as a human being.“
