Tyler Legacy athletes sign with colleges on National Signing Day
TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Two Tyler Legacy High School athletes signed letters of intent on National Signing Day to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level.
Joy Bryner signed with UT-Dallas to play soccer, while Taylor Woods committed to Louisiana Tech University for volleyball.
Bryner said proximity to family influenced her decision to attend UT-Dallas.
“It’s close to family it’s close to home, I love the coaching staff when I met them there. They are very caring and and supporting me through my journey, and they knew they were, they wanted to wait for me to make sure I was 100% ready for them and so once I knew, I was 100% ready I went towards them,” Bryner said.
Taylor Woods will play volleyball for the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs across the state border in Louisiana.
The signing ceremony included family members, with Woods’ grandfather Larry Woods and father Rashaun Woods, Tyler’s football coach, in attendance.
“The progress that they’ve made through life, we’re here because of their academic achievements and athletic gifts,” Larry Woods said.
Bryner acknowledged the difficulty of leaving her current team while expressing excitement about the next chapter.
“It is also really sad leaving all my teammates that I been with for so long my coaches. Who have helped me tremendously. My mom, yeah it’s it’ll be difficult, but we are all excited,” she said.
Both athletes are described as top student-athletes who are setting an example for other Legacy students pursuing collegiate athletics.
