Arp native Overshown overflowing with positive vibes as he rehabs knee injury
OXNARD, Calif. (KLTV) - Injuries are a part of the beautiful game of football and unfortunately for Arp native Demarvion Overshown in the three years he’s been a Dallas Cowboys he knows all too well about injuries.
Overshown is rehabbing for the third year in a row, after promising starts, but as coach Brian Schottenheimer says, Overshown attacks rehab. For many it’s a lonely proposition.
“Stud,” Schottenheimer said. “Attack is the right word. He has attacked from the beginning when you watch him out there working on the bands and whatnot. He pushes everybody he’s training with whether it’s with Dak or whoever is with him.”
“Man, it couldn’t be better,” Overshown said. “I say last year helped a lot. I seen my surgeon not too long ago and he he asked like how it’s crazy that your knee injury was worse this year, but you know your numbers and everything you look so much better than you did at this point last year. You feel comfortable and you are strong. I’m like you learn, that’s the human body you go through stuff like that and now you know how to heal. You know where you’re supposed to be at six months, seven so you know, I know where I’m supposed to be . I know the challenges that I had to face to get to this point and you know I woke up every day with the mindset. I am going to defeat anything in my way.”
When it comes to the kids he sure loves them. On Aug. 9, he will do his school supply giveaway in Arp.
“You know you know it’s a blessing,” Overshown said. “I’ll always be able to get back to my community. I tell people all the time there’s no reason why I should be the last person to come out of Arp and do things like this. So just showing my face in the community, letting the kids know like I got you whatever y’all need and you know, teachers and parents as well. School supplies are not cheap and you know it’s it is just something simple as that. Just give it back.”
