A Better East Texas: Featuring Local Soldiers

While many of us can proudly claim pride in our country few can say they have offered their lives to earn that pride. American soldiers are true heroes yet they don't get near the publicity they deserve. Frankly, too often their work is misrepresented by Hollywood mouthpieces who don't know the first thing about national security. Our military is accomplishing great things throughout the world and their work is being taken for granted by the countries we're helping and unfortunately by too many of our own citizens.

In an effort to do our part to recognize these heroes KLTV will start featuring local soldiers names and pictures throughout our broadcast day.

My hope is that you will recognize a soldier from your area. We need your help with this project though. If you know a soldier from east Texas please let us know about them by writing me here at a better east Texas at kltv.com. And equally important, if you see a soldier on our station from your community, please take the time to thank them and their families for the sacrifice they're making to keep us safe and to make this a better east Texas.

I'm a strong supporter because my son Pfc.Sammy Thompson and his wife Spc.Debbie Thompson are both in the Army station in Kileen. I would like to thank you all for your surpport on are troops. People like you make it easy for the parents of these troops to make it from day to day. Because we have PRAYING warriors believing in our love ones.

I want you to know that your stand on commenting in favor of our military is appreciated. While I respect the right of desention, I detest the action of disrespect for those who have died for this nation. Desention and disrespect are two different actions. I may not agree with a cause, but disrespect for the dead is, in my estimation, worse than cowardice.

Thank you for your service to the community
