The weather we've had this week has created stress for many of you as you deal with fallen trees, power outages, automobile accidents and for some being confined to a house with kids full of pent up energy.
But did you know this weather may create an opportunity for you to reduce stress? The American Psychological Association suggests that helping others is a constructive way to prevent stress and that volunteering with your kids is a good way to assist someone in need and teach your kids about the value of helping others.
If you're one of the fortunate ones who got through this weather with only minor irritants I would encourage you to check on your neighbors and friends who may not have been as fortunate. Such an act will boost your morale in this cold weather and it may help you ward off stress. More importantly being someone others can depend on will make this a better east Texas.
