Plans announced for $400 million hospital in Sherman

SHERMAN, Texas (KXII) - A new $400 million healthcare facility is planned for Sherman.

Community Hospital Corporation announced plans for Heritage Regional Medical Center, described as a state-of-the art, non-profit acute care hospital.

The corporation said the hospital is planned to open in early 2028, with it set to break ground in Sherman’s Heritage Ranch Master Planned Community in early 2026.

Construction will happen near the intersection of U.S. 82 and FM 1417.

The first phase of the development will include 100 inpatient beds and the infrastructure to support expansion in major departments including surgery, emergency and outpatient services, and the capacity for as many as 200 extra outpatient beds.

The medical center is expecting to employ more than 400 employees during the initial phase, and more than 1,000 with future expansion.

“We are thrilled to lead the development of the new Heritage Regional Medical Center,” said Jim Kendrick, President and CEO of CHC. “Our mission is to serve Sherman and the surrounding communities with excellence and compassion, bringing high quality, technologically advanced care to area patients.

Kendrick announced that Ron Seal will be the CEO of the new medical center. Seal has previously served as the CEO of Texoma Medical Center.
