Polunsky Unit guard accused of sexual encounter with inmate

POLK COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) -A correctional officer is now on the other side of the bars after she was accused of sexually interacting with an inmate at the Allan B. Polunsky Unit.

Charlicia Pearl Augustine, 32, of Goodrich was arrested Thursday and charged for violating the civil rights of an inmate in a sexual manner.

According to an arrest affidavit obtained by KTRE, an inmate at the prison told staff that another officer had interacted sexually with another inmate.

After reviewing security footage, they found Augustine could be seen performing sexual acts on an inmate near the kitchen.

Augustine was arrested and booked into the Polk County Jail where she is held on a $15,000 bond.

It is illegal for anyone who is employed at a correctional facility to engage in sexual actions with anyone in custody.
