Lessons learned from a Central Texas tragedy almost ten years ago are being used to help the City of Uvalde recover.

“The utilities, infrastructure is dated, and the exhibits are dated, and we’re just really excited about bringing some new, fresh exhibits with a lot of opportunities for new experiences to the community,” Chief Operating Officer Scott Maddox said.

The man is accused of approaching a woman in her driveway in Hallsville, pointing a shotgun at her and then attempting to drag her inside a barn.

“When it comes to fireworks, this year I don’t anticipate the ban. I would ask everyone to have a good time but do it safely,” said Smith County Fire Marshal Jay Brooks.

“I was telling him about Jordan’s progress and his walking, and he said, ‘I wanna bless you. Could you guys use a van?’ and I like stopped talking and grabbed my heart in that moment, and I was like, ‘Yes sir,’” Donna said.

Monty Cartwright, regional director said in most cases they find themselves with only two people in an ambulance unit during a cardiac arrest situation. “If we can’t get additional help to do the compressions to where we have to call one of our other units, which of course maybe needed somewhere else, so doing this frees up … essentially by putting someone else on the truck, “ he said.
