Athens Mom, Stepfather Charged After Children Found Wandering Neighborhood

A man and woman are in the Henderson County Jail Wednesday night after being charged with child endangerment.

37 year old Jason Monroe Wakeham of Athens, the children's stepfather, and Deallina Wakeham of Vidor, the children's mother, were arrested at the Athens Child Protection Service office after observers saw three children wandering in the streets of the Shady Oaks community, south of Athens. A 3 year old boy was wandering around Pecan Circle Drive, and a 3 year old girl and 6 year old boy were located on FM 753.

The three children were taken to ETMC in Athens, where they were evaluated before being released to CPS.

Both the mother and stepfather will be arraigned Thursday morning, where bond will be set.
