TISD Teacher Named Educator Of The Year

John Tyler High School teacher Sharon Bailey has been named the Educator of the Year by Junior Achievement of Tyler.  Bailey was recently inducted into the Junior Achievement Tyler Business Hall of Fame for her dedication to careers in education.

Bailey has been a volunteer with Junior Achievement for over 10 years.

In the Ready Set Teach classes, Bailey teaches students to be volunteers for Junior Achievement of Tyler.  Students that are interested in the education field get first hand experience teaching lessons to elementary students.

"Since I have my students placed in Tyler ISD elementary schools as student teachers in the Ready Set Teach class I really enjoy seeing each one of them be successful," said Bailey.  "Junior Achievement gives my students confidence in their teaching ability as they teach the lessons for Junior Achievement. It also gives my students an opportunity for community involvement to help them on college applications, scholarships and job applications."

Bailey placed volunteers in 23 classrooms this year in Tyler ISD.
