An East Texas man who was swimming with friends drowned in Lake Hawkins Monday afternoon, despite attempts to save him.
Texas Parks and Wildlife authorities say 25 year old Edgar Nino was swimming with friends around 1:30 Monday and went under.
Game wardens nearby dove in, found Nino in about 10 feet of water and brought him up. They say they applied CPR until emergency crews arrived but were never able to revive him.
EMS transported Nino and was able to get slow vital signs, but he passed away a few hours later, around 6 p.m.
