Longview Man Arrested For Assault And Indecency

A Longview man is jailed after a bizarre incident where investigators say he pulled a knife on relatives, and then exposed himself to children.  It happened at a home in the 100 block of Melba St. just after 12:00 a.m. Sunday.

Police say Frederick Ladon Edwards, 41, got drunk at a family gathering at the home. They say he got in an argument, then threatened several people with a knife.  More disturbing, investigators say Edwards then turned his anger on some nearby children, threatening them and then exposing himself to them.

Edwards fled the scene, but was captured a short distance away by police.  He is charged with aggravated assault and indecency with a child. He is being held in the Gregg county jail on $20,000 bond.
