World's Fiercest Bulls Roam Ranch In Gilmer
They are some of the fiercest competitors in their sport but you would not ask them for their autographs.
"We're scared of them just like anything else," Harland Robertson said.
Harlan is co-owner of Robertson/Wilson/Southwick Bulls and the pieces of his collection strike fear into the hearts of cowboys world wide.
"I think we have like eight or nine right now ranked in the top 50 in the world," Harlan said. "It's my motto, I want to throw (riders) off. I've got to go home with the bulls, I don't have to go home with the cowboys. "
"When you crack the latch on this gate, they know what's fixing to happen. They want to perform just like an athlete," Harlan said of his bulls.
Over the years the bulls have become superstars, like Biloxi Blue.
"He won a pretty prestigious award, Bucking Bull of the Year in 2005."
But we had to find the meanest of them all: Vertical Limit.
"This one will tear you up to pieces and spit you out," Harlan said.
While Biloxi Blue might be the cowboys favorite, Vertical Limit not so much. That's because cowboys are barely able to ride him.
"He has almost a 98 percent buck off ratio," Harlan said.
In three years, only two cowboys have successfully ridden Vertical Limit.
"That's their job," Harlan said, "to throw them off and go home."
