HOPKINS COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - A Fort Worth man is charged with murder after the body of a woman was found on a property in Hopkins County.

Investigators arrested Lucious Newhouse III, 54, after he got stuck in a creek after dumping the body, according to Hopkins County Sheriff's Office Captain Tanner Crump.

Crump said Newhouse killed the woman in the Fort Worth area and then drove to Hopkins County, into a pasture on Business 313 and left her at the back of the open property. Crump said Newhouse then became confused and could not figure out how to get back onto the road.

He stuck his car in a creek and then walked to the road, presumably to get a ride out of the area. Crump said that is when he was contacted by law enforcement and the investigation started, resulting in them finding the body.

Crump said they determined the murder happened in the metroplex and the agency there was able to locate a crime scene and file a murder warrant.

Newhouse's bond has been set at $1million.

The name of the victim has not yet been released.
