TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Tyler police investigators have filed new charges on three suspects in a gas skimming case, saying the trio is suspected of committing similar crimes across the state.
Yoerlan Suarez Corrales, 38, of Austin, Felipe Manuel Nieves Perez, 33, of Austin and Dairon Julio Jimenez Roja, 27, of Austin have all been additionally charged with engaging in organized criminal activity.
Corrales, Perez and Roja are also charged with two counts of unlawful interception, use, or disclosure of wire, oral, or electronic communications.
Tyler police say investigators with the North Texas Financial Crimes Task Force are pulling the Texas statewide crime spree into Smith County for prosecution under the Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity statute.
According to a press release, Tyler Police Department investigators were notified at 4:40 p.m. on July 27 that gas skimming suspects had returned to an Exxon station in the 800 block of south southeast Loop 323 to take their skimmers from the gas pumps.
Before the suspects, who were in two separate cars, could get away, several TPD patrol officers converged on them.
The suspects remain in the Smith County Jail.
