East Texas Idol returns with new prizes, new judges

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - Calling all singers! Want a chance to be East Texas' next big celebrity?

KLTV & KTRE present the second annual East Texas Idol contest in which 15 local contestants will be selected to sing on-stage August 31. Following the performance at Liberty Hall, local judges will select a champion to receive a "Silver Ticket" to an American Idol judge city. This ticket includes travel and hotel accommodations to one of American Idol's auditions and the possibility of meeting the American Idol celebrity judges.

Auditioning is easy! Submit a one minute video featuring yourself singing your favorite song for your chance to perform live! Online auditions close August 26 at 11:59 p.m. Send in your audition here!

Selected singers will be notified by phone by August 29. Further eligibility requirements:

1. Must be between ages 15-28 (as of June 1, 2018).
2. Must be willing and able to perform at East Texas Idol on Friday night, August 31st if selected by the committee.
3. Video must be a capella or with a single acoustic instrument (played by the vocalist) and it is recommended the song be a cover rather than an original piece.
4. Video should be approximately 60 seconds long.
5. The video should be of you! We want to see you shine, so include your face in the video.
Following a committee vote, the top 15 singers will perform live at Liberty Hall on Friday, August 31st for a chance at winning the Silver Ticket!
