Tyler man gets 20 years for shooting up ex in-laws’ home

SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - A Smith County judge has sentenced a Tyler man to 20 years in prison for shooting up his ex in-laws' home in May of 2016.

Court records show Judge Kerry Russell issued the sentence for Curtis Wayne Bagby, 40, on Friday. Bagby pleaded guilty to three counts of second-degree aggravated assault in July.

The shooting occurred On May 7 in the 2900 block of Baldwin Drive. According to a police report, Bagby fired more than 30 rounds from a rifle into the front bedroom of his ex-in-laws' home.

Linda Tribble was struck by a round while she was in her bed and a family dog was also struck by gunfire and killed.
