Amtrak train stuck due to sinkhole for several hours in Van Zandt County

VAN ZANDT COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Passengers on an Amtrak train were stranded for several hours in Van Zandt County following a sinkhole incident.

According to tips to KLTV, the train had left Dallas Sunday afternoon. Reports from viewers claimed the train was stuck due to a sinkhole Sunday evening.

According to Union Pacific Communications Director Raquel Espinoza, the tracks were functional again at 4:07 a.m. Monday. She said crews had to deliver ballast rock to the scene in order to stabilize the track. She said the scene was in the Edgewood area in Van Zandt County.
