Body recovered from remains of house fire in Panola County

(KLTV) - Panola County Sheriff Kevin Lake says there is an ongoing investigation into a deadly house fire.

Emergency crews were first called to the fire at approximately 9:43 Wednesday morning on FM 2517 near CR 470.

Flatwoods VFD and Inter Community VFD were dispatched to the scene.

Deputies from the Panola County Sheriff's Office, Precinct 1 Constable Bryan Murff and EMS also responded.

Sheriff Lake says, it was later determined that there was possibly a victim inside the structure at the time of the fire.

Panola County Investigators responded to the scene and the State Fire Marshal's Office was contacted and responded.

A body was later recovered.

Investigators remained on the scene for approximately 9 hours.

The name of the victim has not yet been released.
