OXNARD, CA (KLTV) - Phillip Tanner and George Selvy want to coach in the league they played in, so they're taking part in the minority coaching program set up throughout the league.

Tanner says he knew he wanted coach while he was recovering from an injury in college at Tennessee State, saying that he used the down time to coach and help bring along the younger players. When he healed and resumed playing, he knew the game plan so much better because of his helping out while on the sidelines.

The program lasts for just a few weeks, and former NFL players are still in tune with the game and their progress is monitored so that they can get that fit coaching job, no matter what level. Former Cowboys  DL Leon Lett is now on the coaching staff and got coaching experience with the program.
