RUSK, TX (KLTV) - A Cherokee County jury has found a Jacksonville man guilty in the shooting death of a Frankston man.

District Attorney Elmer Beckworth said the jury handed down the verdict on Wednesday. They found Terry Woods guilty of first-degree murder and will return to Judge Michael Davis' court on July 30 for the punishment phase of the trial.

Jacksonville police arrested Woods in October 2015 after Michael Hatton, 44, of Frankston, was found with a gunshot wound in the 1000 block of Bethune Street. Hatton later died from the injuries.

Police were able to arrest Woods after identifying him as the suspect after interviewing witnesses.
