(KLTV) - The last surviving member of the first Kilgore Rangerette line has died.

According to an obituary posted to Rader Funeral Home, 94-year-old Virginia Grey Law "Gay" Culp of Henderson passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at her residence.

Her son, Randy Culp, shared a public Facebook post to make a statement in tribute to his mother, which read in part:

She was born in Louisiana in 1923 and grew up in Kilgore, Texas during the oil boom days. She was the last surviving member of the very first line of the Kilgore College Rangerettes drill team, having appeared with that group for their very first performance on September 12, 1940 at a Kilgore College football game. She was a wonderful mother to us three boys and our wives and was extremely proud of her grandchildren.

Services are scheduled for Friday, July 20, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church in Kilgore.
