Cumberland High School student dies in car wreck

LINDALE, TX (KLTV) - A Cumberland High School student died in car wreck Monday morning.

Cheyenne Lawlis,15, died in a two-vehicle car crash in Lindale. According to Lt. Michael Lazarine with the Lindale Police Department, the crash occurred at about 6:50 a.m. Monday morning near County Road 474 and Highway 69.

Lawlis was a passenger in one of the vehicles involved.

The preliminary investigation indicate that the crash occurred when one of the involved vehicles ran a red light and collided with the other, according to Lt. Lazarine.  He said that the crash remains under investigation.

Services for Lawlis will be held at 10 a.m. Friday morning at Lane's Chapel United Methodist Church in Tyler, according to the Antioch Baptist Church's Facebook page.
