TYLER, TX (KLTV) - What was a long-time Tyler movie theater is now one step closer to becoming a family-friendly, multi-entertainment complex.

The City of Tyler's newest attraction, Times Square Cinema Grand Slam, is partially open to customers in what owner Howard Charba is calling the next phase of its completion.

"In the architectural/general contractor meeting, they tell me two months later than I tell them," Charba said. "Right now, we're pretty certain we're not going to make the October time frame I initially hoped for, but I feel pretty certain it's going to make it before the end of the year."

Right now, 7 movie theater areas, an arcade center, and a redemption center are open to customers who don't mind dealing with the construction. Charba said there is so much more to come.

"One of the main things everyone asks about is the bowling," Charba said. "There are going to be 22 lanes -- 6 of them are going to be boutique-style lanes, meaning they'll be set up with a lounge area and bar. Number two is laser tag."

"We're going to have virtual reality, a ropes course, about 60 or 70 games, and a redemption center. We're going to have a nice, 50-seat fine dining restaurant."

Plus, a conference room, 2 bar areas, party rooms, and a coffee bar.

Charba said his main goal is to provide families with an experience without breaking the bank.

"The customer experience in one sentence is probably one word: wow," Charba said. "It was a great time, I didn't feel like I went into bankruptcy to do it."

"And the people [there] treated me like family."
