Witness: After bicyclist struck on 271, passersby stopped, administered CPR
GLADEWATER, TX (KLTV) - Police, EMS, DPS and the fire department are on the scene of crash on US HWY 271, just north of Gladewater. According to Gladewater police dispatch, the call reported that a man on a bicycle was struck by a vehicle.
Our reporter spoke with several witnesses at the scene who said that a bicyclist pulled onto the highway and a work truck attempted to avoid hitting him, but could not. A witness at the scene also said that the truck and several other vehicles stopped to help the bicyclist after the collision, and administered CPR on him until EMS could arrive.
Officials with the Department of Public Safety tell us 21-year-old Dakota Gour of Gladewater was leaving a game room on US HWY 271 riding a bicycle, when he ran into the side of the work truck, registered out of Atlanta.
Gour was taken to Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview, and is listed in critical condition.
DPS says, the driver of the truck will not face charges.
