LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - Four days after a man and a woman were found dead in a fire, investigators still have few answers as to what exactly happened.

The two were found dead in a house on Cherie Lane in Longview last week. One person was detained for questioning after the fire, but investigators say that person may not be done answering questions just yet.

"When our crews arrived on scene they were told that there were still people inside the house, so as crews entered the house to fight the fire we also had crews going in to do a primary search to see if there is any survivors," Longview Fire Department Public Information Officer Kevin May said.

May said the majority of the interior of the home was heavily damaged, making it difficult for firefighters to find any survivors.

He confirms one male and one female died in the fire, but at this time they have not been identified

According to Gregg County judicial records, a woman was detained at the scene.

"She actually lived here, so she would have been a third person in the house that was able to escape," he said. "We did detain her for questioning, but released her later on in the morning."

Fire officials said they expect to determine the cause of the fire by the end of the week.
