Patrick Mahomes victim of reported aggravated robbery

SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Patrick Mahomes II was reportedly robbed at gunpoint in Smith County on Friday.

Thursday afternoon, the Smith County Sheriff's Office said a press conference would be held May 16 regarding the incident.

On May 12, Smith County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a residence located in the 8800 block of Mansion Creek Circle in reference to an Aggravated Robbery.

Upon arrival, deputies met with four individuals who stated that they had been robbed by a white male suspect who they believed to be armed with a handgun. One of the individuals robbed was Mr. Patrick Mahomes II.

As the victims were getting out of their vehicle, the suspect pulled into the driveway.

As the suspect approached the victims, he was seen gesturing as if he had a handgun in his waistband. The suspect then demanded property from the victims.

The suspect fled the location in his vehicle.

After deputies arrived and spoke with the victims they were able to locate the suspect's vehicle which was occupied by two males. A stop of the vehicle was performed near County Road 273 and Malisa Circle.

Two suspects were taken into custody. Michael Blake Pinkerton, 34, and Billy Ray Johnson, 58, were both arrested and taken to the Smith County Jail.

According to Sergeant Coslin, Pinkerton said he didn't know he was robbing Mahomes.

"He was just driving by, saw them in committed the robbery," said Coslin.  " Where it was trying to get quick cash or whatever, he had no idea who he was robbing."

Coslin said the second suspect, Billy Ray Johnson, was not reported to be in the car at the time of the robbery but deputies found him inside the suspect's vehicle.

No gun has been located in association with the robbery, according to Coslin.

However, Coslin said the charge remains because if the suspect acts like they have a gun, even if they don't, they can be charged with aggravated robbery if victims believe they're being held at gun point.

Pinkerton is being held on a $50,000 bond and is charged with aggravated robbery.

Johnson is being held on bonds totaling $6,000 and he's charged with tampering physical evidence and two charges of possession of a controlled substance.

No one was injured. Property taken during the robbery was recovered from the suspect's vehicle.

The Smith County Sheriff's Office says the investigation is active and ongoing.
