TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Chase and Terry Nick were sitting in their pickup truck outside FD's Grill House when they saw something happening.
"We were eating lunch after church," Chase Nick said, and when they saw what was shaping up to be a robbery, they took action.
"I pulled out my gun, told him to drop the knife and get on the ground face down," Terry Nick said.
The two stopped 35-year-old suspect Chad Boening from robbing two people standing outside FD's Grill House in Tyler.
Eyewitnesses say Boening grabbed a woman and stuck a knife toward her side, then told the man she was with 'do you want this b**** to die?'"
"My son was right behind me," Terry said. "I told him to get out his gun also. And at that point we just held him at gun point."
Chase and Terry approached the scene and held their guns on the suspect.
Rodney didn't want his last name in this article, but said, "I thought [the suspect] was going to ask me for money, and then out comes a knife."
He says he thought the suspect was just going to ask him for spare change. The Nicks held the suspect at gun point until an off duty game warden took the suspect into custody. Police arrived at the scene later and arrested Chad Boening. The scene ended with a conversation between Terry Nick and Rodney.
"I knew something was going on, and I said just let me get out my gun fast enough so nobody gets stabbed," Terry said to Rodney. To that, Rodney smiled at Nick and said, "you literally ... saved our lives."
