WHITEHOUSE, TX (KLTV) - One of the most electrifying quarterbacks in college football the past three seasons is heading to the NFL. And he just happens to be an East Texan.
A multi-sport athlete at Whitehouse, Patrick Mahomes II wasn't highly recruited as a quarterback coming out of high school. Yet, Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury believed in Mahomes and knew the type of player he was getting.
After putting up ridiculous numbers as a Red Raider, Mahomes announced on Tuesday that he will skip his senior season and enter the NFL draft.
The former Wildcat led the nation in total offense for the second consecutive season and also finished first in passing yards, passing touchdowns, and points responsible for.
Mahomes has received a second round grade from the NFL draft advisory committee and says despite fulfilling a life long dream of turning pro, it wasn't easy leaving Texas Tech early.
