SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - A man who was shot by Lindale police after pointing a weapon at them has been indicted.

Jeremy Wood, 26, of Lindale, was indicted during a Dec. 8 meeting of a Smith County grand jury. Wood is charged with aggravated assault against a public servant.

He was arrested in September this year after officers said he pointed a gun at them in a Lindale night club parking lot.

Police said that at about 10:53 p.m. on Sept. 30, officers responded to a 911 call at Jackie's Office Club in the 2700 block South Main in Lindale.

The caller told police there was "a man with a gun" at the location. Lindale Police Department said that when units arrived, they found Wood with a firearm.

"Officers gave numerous commands for Wood to drop his weapon, but Wood refused, and pointed the weapon at the responding officers. One officer shot and struck Wood, once, in the chest," the department said in an Oct. 4 statement.
