TYLER, TX (KLTV) - The City of Tyler says they are collecting funds to purchase a tree and a plaque in honor of Kayla Gomez-Orozco.
The tree and plaque will be placed in the Children's Park of Tyler.
The city says one of their employees suggested the idea and Tuesday city employees began collecting funds. Wednesday, the donations were opened up to the public.
The city says they have spoken with Kayla's family and will let them pick out a tree and will also allow them to write their own message on the plaque. The city says they need about $2,500 to accomplish the goal.
Those wishing to donate can stop by the Tyler Public Library. Credit cards, cash and checks will be accepted.
Checks can be made out to The City of Tyler, but they ask that you write in the memo: for Kayla's Tree.
