LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - Officials have released the identities of two people who drowned in Longview Wednesday afternoon.

Phyllis Phillips, 54, and 5-year-old Janiyah Ward drowned at a residence on Coleman Drive around 1:50 p.m.

Fire Marshal Johnny Zackary said the woman and child were pronounced dead Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency responders were called to the 1000 block of Coleman Drive, off of Fourth Street, in response to two possible drownings at a private pool.

Officials say an adult and a child were transported to hospitals and both were in cardiac arrest. Responders performed CPR prior to transportation but they were later pronounced dead at separate hospitals.

Officials say at the time of the incident, there were two adults and four children on the property.

According to Zackary, one person was out of the water when first responders arrived and one person was still in the water. Responders pulled the other person from the water and began to administer CPR on both victims, who were visiting the home at the time of the incident.

Zackary says the incident is not considered suspicious.
