VAN ZANDT COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - The man who was shot at the Canton Travel Plaza on I-20 on Tuesday evening has been identified.

A witness who was at the travel plaza at the time of the incident says two men were involved in an altercation at the store when employee, D-Jay Stevenson approached them and asked the men to leave the premises. At that time, one of the men allegedly shot Stevenson in the stomach. Stevenson was flown to a Tyler hospital where he underwent surgery.

Officials with Van Zandt County Sheriff's office say the suspects fled the scene, but deputies caught up with them at another location and took them into custody. The sheriff's office has not released any further details.
