Longview businessman killed in Gregg County shooting
GREGG COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - A Longview businessman has been identified as the victim in a fatal shooting north of Longview Monday night.
Ronnie Horaney, the owner of Horaney's Feed Store, was killed in the shooting, according to the Gregg County Sheriff's office.
Deputy Josh Tubb said around 7 p.m., multiple units responded to a call of a shooting on Tryon Road. Gregg County Sheriff's officials have not released any information on a possible suspect.
Horaney's Feed Store has been in business in Longview for more than 70 years. In 2005, Longview Mayor Jay Dean proclaimed August 27 as Horaney Inc. Day, according to the store's website.
City of Longview spokesman Shawn Hara released the following statement to KLTV Tuesday morning:
"We're saddened to learn of the loss for the Horaney family. Horaney's has been a mainstay in downtown Longview for more than 75 years and during that time the Horaney family have operated their store as a local business that actively supports and gives back to the community," the statement said.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing Tuesday morning. Gregg County Sheriff's Office reminds motorists traveling along Tryon Road to be mindful that law enforcement may be crossing or utilizing a portion of the roadway.
