One dead, one hospitalized in Van Zandt Co. home invasion
WILLS POINT, TX (KLTV) - According to the Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office, one man is dead and another hospitalized after a home invasion.
The sheriff said that on Tuesday at about 1 p.m., the Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office responded to a home invasion taking place in the 5400 Block of VZCR 3415 in Wills Point.
The man who is alleged to have broken into the home died as a result of a gunshot wound; the deceased male was identified as 42-year-old Gaylen St. John of Canton.
The homeowner was sent to the hospital due to injuries sustained during the altercation.
The Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Van Zandt County Fire Marshal's Office, Van Zandt County Constable Precinct 3 Office, Van Zandt County Constable Precinct 1 Office, and Texas Department of Public Safety (Texas Rangers) Office.
The investigation is ongoing at this time and no arrests have been made.
