EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - A donation to an East Texas Salvation Army bell-ringer has suddenly become very popular, because people want to buy it.

We told you Friday about someone d ropping a solid gold South African 'Krugerrand' in his bucket. The coin valued at $1075.

Since then, Salvation Army officials say they have been flooded with offers of donations in exchange for the coin.

"Since the reporting of KLTV, there has been immense interest in people calling for the coin. They want to know what they can do to help others,
and they're interested in the coin. But they want to see how they can help others this Christmas season, with the purchase of this beautiful gold coin," says Salvation Army Major Ernest Lozano.

The coin remains with the Salvation Army in Longview while they continue to field donation offers.
