TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Authorities have confirmed that one person has died in a head on collision early Friday morning on County Road 26 east of Tyler.

The 2-vehicle collision happened just after 6 a.m. on County Road 26 also known as Old Jamestown Road between Farm-to-Market 850 and County Road 21.

According to authorities, a gray Kia driven by a Lindale man struck a pick-up truck near the intersection of County Road 2301. The man in the Kia was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators on the scene say the man driving the Kia had just gotten off work at Azleway Boys Ranch in Tyler and they believe sleep deprivation may have been a factor in the wreck. The wreck remains under investigation.

The identity of those involved in the crash have not been released pending notification of next of kin.

KLTV has a crew on the scene and will have more information as it becomes available.
