Wood County investigating after two people found dead

WOOD COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Wood County Sheriff's Office is investigating after two people were found dead earlier this week.

The department said in a Friday statement that on Aug. 3, deputies were called a welfare check at a residence on County Road 1416, near Quitman. When they arrived, they found all the windows and doors of the home to be secure and deputies could not get a response from anyone inside.

Family members told deputies that two people lived in the home. Forced entry was made and a deputy discovered the bodies of two people, later identified as Emma Moore, 75, and Bobby Harper, 67.

Wood County officials are investigating the case with the assistance of the Texas Rangers. Autopsies have been ordered and results are pending.
