Witnesses say Longview man rammed cars, took off clothes
LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - A man is jailed after stripping off all his clothes and smashing his truck into an SUV in the 3400 block of Gilmer Road in Longview on Tuesday.
Four police officers held down Eusebio Ramos Oviedo, 34, while waiting for an ambulance to arrive.
A woman who didn't want to be identified said she was turning northbound onto Gilmer from Hawkins a truck ran the red light and hit her SUV. She said the driver hit her three times, then she pulled into a Brookshires grocery store parking lot.
Thomas Ducker was behind the pickup and saw the impacts. Longview Police say several vehicles were hit. Wendy Hyde was getting gas and saw the whole thing unfold in front of her.
"He came through the red light and just kept hitting people and ramming people," Wendy said.
Police say Oviedo probably popped his tires on a curb in front of TLC car wash where he left it in the middle of Gilmer road. Alan Guedry was at the car wash just trying to wash his car.
"I saw the guy coming out from the truck and he was yelling at some kids that were behind this fence back here so I thought, I'm going to get out of here. But there was a guy in a blue shirt over there that thought he'd go up and try to help that guy, but he ran up to him and tried to jump him, so he jumped in his car and he started pounding on his window," Alan recalled.
"Then turned around and hit a white guy, an older man several times in the jaw. He grabbed hold of his truck and the man was trying to drive off as he was hitting him, and he was dragging him," Wendy said.
"Well, then the cops showed up," Alan stated.
"And after that he came up here and stripped down naked and was going to bust everybody's butt," Wendy added.
Witnesses say Oviedo was also hitting his son who was with him in the truck.
"What you gonna do when they come for you?" the naked man being down held by four officers sang.
Several back up officers arrived on scene and the suspect fought with officers trying to get to one of their guns. An officer then tazed him, and they were able to get him on the ground and keep his hands behind his back.
He was loaded into an ambulance and taken to a hospital for observation, leaving behind several damaged vehicles and clothing strewn on the grass behind the car wash.
Oviedo has been charged with attempt to take a weapon from a peace officer and assault family violence for hitting his fifteen-year-old son who was trying to stop his father.
