Man indicted in Longview murder case

GREGG COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - A man suspected in the death of a Longview man was indicted Friday on a murder charge in Gregg County.

Christian Earl Sibley, 21, is facing the charge in the death of Jared Hunt, 22, of Longview. Sibley allegedly shot and killed Hunt at a Longview convenience store on Feb. 3. Hunt died Feb. 23 from his injuries.

According to an arrest warrant, Sibley denied having a gun during the argument in which Hunt was shot, and says the gun in question belonged to the victim. Longview police recovered surveillance video from the store where the shooting occurred.

On Thursday,

by a Smith County grand jury for an April 2014 charge of possession of a prohibited substance in a correctional facility.

Sibley is also charged with escaping police custody, stemming from an unrelated May 2013 shooting incident.
