VAN ZANDT COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Donations have been flooding in to assist the storm victims in the Van area.City officials and church representatives say they have received an influx of donations and most supply sites are overflowing. However, there is still a need for baby clothes, cleaning supplies and monetary donations.
People who would like to make a monetary donation to victims of the storm in Van can visit
or dial 1–800-Red-Cross or make a $10 gift to disaster relief by texting RedCross to 90999.
Van Community Ministries, 201 S. Maple Street in Van, is asking for baby items and cleaning supplies. The organization's phone number is 903-963-1616.
A volunteer with the Assembly of God, 409 N. Maple in Van, said they were overwhelmed with the donations. The church is not requesting any food, water or clothing donations at this time. Tuesday, on the group's social media page, it said what volunteers need most is wheelbarrows, shovels, work gloves and cleaning supplies. Contact the church at 903-963-7205.
Van United Methodist Church and First Baptist Church, both on Main Street in Van, are not taking food or clothing donations at this time. The public is asked to not take donations to the shelter.
A volunteer with Van United Methodist Church said the public needs large plastic storage tubs to store and move their valuables, especially with the week's chance of rain.
Red Cross is not accepting donations of goods and cannot use them.
Volunteers are being allowed in the city at this time to assist with cleanup efforts but must leave by 6 p.m. Volunteers are asked check in at Van United Methodist Church.
