Deputies arrest two people for Anderson County shooting

ANDERSON COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - The Anderson County Sheriff's Office has arrested two people suspected of shooting a man Sunday.
James Robert Kennedy, 26, and Juan Fernando Rangel, 35, both of Palestine, are charged with the murder of Michael Cecil Espinosa. Both men are each being held on $1 million bonds, according to Sheriff Greg Taylor.
Kennedy was arrested Tuesday at a Palestine apartment complex by Anderson County deputies and Palestine police.
Rangel was arrested at a residence in Crockett by police and Anderson County investigators, according to Taylor. Crockett police said they were tipped off by a citizen that Rangel was hiding there. When Crockett SWAT teams arrived, they found a truck that had been reported stolen from the murder scene in Palestine outside of the home.
Police waited until Rangel left the home, followed the truck as it left, and arrested Rangel without incident. A second female passenger was questioned and released.
"We were eager to assist our neighboring law enforcement agency in apprehending this dangerous person and getting him off the streets of Crockett," said Police Chief David Cross.
Just after 6 p.m. on Sunday, deputies responded to reports of shots fired in the 3000 block of Farm to Market Road 320 in Palestine.
Taylor said that when deputies arrived, they found 34-year-old Espinosa with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Espinosa was taken to a Palestine hospital where he was pronounced dead.
